Position SummaryAs an Assistant Manager in our Tax team, you’ll play a key role in leading engagements, supporting strategic planning, and mentoring junior staff. This is a growth-oriented opportunity ideal for experienced Senior Associates ready to step into a leadership role within a dynamic, high-performing tax practice.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage tax compliance engagements and contribute to complex tax planning assignments.
- Review and provide guidance on the preparation of corporate and personal tax returns.
- Conduct technical tax research and provide analysis on a variety of issues related to corporate and cross-border tax matters.
- Assist clients in implementing tax strategies that align with their business goals.
- Collaborate closely with Partners and Senior Managers on planning engagements and ensuring timely client delivery.
- Identify tax risks and planning opportunities for clients and assist in resolving complex tax matters.
- Mentor and coach junior tax staff; provide performance feedback and contribute to team development.
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities for value-added services.
- Contribute to internal process improvements and knowledge sharing within the tax practice.
Qualifications & Skills- Minimum 3+ years of progressive experience in Canadian tax within a public accounting firm.
- CPA designation completed or near completion.
- Enrolled in or completed the CPA In-Depth Tax Program or a Master's in Taxation (MTax).
- Strong understanding of Canadian tax legislation and corporate tax matters.
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate complex tax issues clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Strong client service orientation and interpersonal skills.
- Additional language proficiency is an asset.
